Hardwood Flooring and Tile

Welcome back!  (or maybe you should welcome me back...)  I'm sorry for the long wait on updates.  We haven't ever forgotten the blog, but just haven't gotten to it lately.

Siding is nearing completion.  Our guys worked on it for much of June, and the builders are coming now to finish some of the higher parts.

Garage floor has been poured and drywall hung.

Cousins dancing.

(One of the reasons I'm behind on the blog.)

Brothers painting on the scaffold again.  This time the garage ceiling.

Uncle giving A. a lesson in laying hardwood.

He's usually the one that's right with us, wanting to help.

The maple flooring is all laid; it went splendidly.  In fact, I think I've enjoyed helping with hardwood and tile just as much as painting!  Truly.  Here's the hallway to the bedrooms.

The Dining Room and Library.

The Living Room.  Many thanks to our neighbors for the kind loan of their flooring stapler.

The Schoolroom.

Daddy fashioned a hanger for the Johnny Jump-up, so the Little Guy can keep an eye on us.  He loves jumping!

The miniature helper's back!  He even comes with his own tools.

The Grandpa Flooring Co.

We have been sooo thankful for the dollhouse that Aunt Teresa handed down years ago.  Little E. has spent hours upon hours playing with it while we work at the new house.  As soon as we get there, she says, "Mommy, please play my dollhouse?"

Great-grandpa and a cousin visit from Indiana.

Friends visiting from Arizona.  We should have had a "wall" for them all to sign.  We've already had visitors from Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Alaska, and California...

Figuring out the tile pattern in the Laundry Room.

Cutting tile with a special saw (on loan from a good friend, too.)

Setting tile with mortar.

Railings built this week by D. and his dad and my brothers.  Building them ourselves, with spindles from Craigslist, saved about $2000.00.

Lots of helpers.

This Entryway is the next room to be tiled.

D. and his dad spent all of Labor Day installing these posts in the Loft for railings.  They had to cut the drywall and the Loft floor and bolt the posts to the support posts around the Kitchen.

Downstairs railing complete!

Next:
 1) Tile the Entryway
2) Install the Loft Railings
3) Build Cabinets for the Kitchen and Bath
